Product Description

This knit dishcloth pattern is a simply beautiful picture of a dove in flight. It is designed differently than my other patterns in that it is done in relief within a garter stitch circle.

The design is not symmetrical so lefty knitters may need to make adjustments if it matters which way the dove is facing.

The picture is created in garter stitch on a stockinette background. The border is seed stitch, but the pattern is written so that you may substitute a preferred border if you wish.

A Note about Needle Size, Gauge and Making the Design “Pop” Out:
Gauge is not as important since this is not an item to be worn. If you are sewing squares together to create an afghan, use the same needle size for each square.

Using a smaller needle will produce a smaller, tighter cloth, however it is not likely to be perfectly square. My experiments with needle sizes of 4 and 5 have produced slightly rectangular cloths.

If you are using a size 6 needle and the design is not “popping” out for you, decreasing needle size could be the answer. Also, make sure you are not pulling the yarn too tightly while creating the purl bumps of the design. If the yarn is tight, there is less of it to “pop”.
